The Washington Wizards have been in the market for moves that could help them take the next step forward in their rebuild.

Washington proved their willingness to be aggressive on the trade market this offseason, making an abundance of different moves headlined by the acquisitions of CJ McCollum and Cam Whitmore, while offloading the likes of Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and newly acuired Kelly Olynyk.

Of all the moves, it's safe to say that none of them have worked out in the Wizards favor, at least not production wise.

Moving on from Poole's lucrative contract has its perks, but the inconsistent play of McCollum has only made the impact on the Wizards future outlook about as disappointing as it could have.

Meanwhile, Whitmore's failure to live up to team standards has only added to the frustrations for what has been an underwhelming start to the season in Washington.

All that to say, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Wizards remain active on the trade front as the NBA trade deadline nears and not just as sellers llike many have speculated them to be as trade season looms.

Instead, Washington could find themselves as buyers ahead of the deadline, especially if the right candidate presents itself.

Fortunately, the Wizards perfect trade target may already be rising to the surface.

Jonathan Kuminga is the perfect trade for the Wizards

Jonathan Kuminga checks all the boxes for a potential win-now move that could benefit the Wizards in both the immediate and the long-term future.

The former lottery pick is a young prospect, who's already proven in the NBA playoffs that he has the ability to impact the game on a consistent level.

Furthermore, he's shown flashes that with the ball in his hands, he can be a difference-maker and a potential franchise player.

On a roster like the Warriors, Kuminga's ability to showcase his upside has been restricted by the star power and the veterans on the roster.

However, with a fresh start on a rebuilding squad, the former G-League Ignite star could prove exactly why he was a highly touted prospect entering the NBA.

Looking at the Wizards roster, between their veteran players, abundance of young talent and financial flexibility, a move for a player like Kuminga is not only very doable, but without a doubt in the cards for general manager Will Dawkins.

Keep an eye out on the Wizards to get involved in the Kuminga sweepstakes, especially if they believe a frontcourt pairing of the forward and Alex Sarr could get them one step closer to their ultimate goal.
