Cam Whitmore hasn't wasted any time turning heads since joining the Washington Wizards.
The Maryland native has impressed plenty of his teammates and with the high praise coming from players on the roster, the hype surrounding the former first-round pick's first season with the Wizards continues to grow by the day.
Entering the league, the scouting report surrounding Cam Whitmore considered him to be one of the best athletes in his respective draft class with the ability to get to the rim at will and an improving jumper that could allow for him to seperate himself at the next level.
Through two years in Houston, Whitmore showed flashes of that scouting report to be spot on.
The Villanova product looked the part with the Rockets and although the mistakes of a young player ultimately led to him being taken out of the rotation, those costly mistakes landed him ion a situation that arguably could be the perfect fit for him and his career.
Since arriving in Washington, Whitmore has been one of the major talking point surrounding the Wizards.
Not only has his arrival grew conversation among fans and minds around the league, but he's also become a talking point for players on the roster.
Second-year man and longtime friend of Whitmore, Bub Carrington, shared what made Whitmore different in recent comments about his new teammate.
Now, another Wizards in Justin Champagnie has come out expressing exactly what standsout to him about the forward:
“Cam [Whitmore] is STUPID athletic," Champagnie said. "I don’t think I’ve ever been around anybody that’s that athletic.”
Whitmore's athleticsim has been raved about since entering the league and perhaps that is the main difference that seperates him from other players in the league.
Between his quick first step, insane vertical and agility on the court, Whitmore is a handful for opposing teams to defend.
And that's proving true before he even gets the oppoortunity to carve out a sizable role on the Wizards and develop his game to potentially take another step this coming season.
All the tools are there for the wing to be a premiere threat in the league and in Washington, the ability to play through his mistakes and use every rep to improve may be the difference maker in his development as a whole.
If all goes right, Whitmore will begin to turn heads for more than just his athleticsim in Washington.
