The Washington Wizards may not have made the playoffs, but the team has multiple former players to keep tabs on as the postseason continues to unfold.
One of those players that the Wizards and their fanbase have their eyes on is Kyle Kuzma who was offloaded ahead of the trade deadline in February in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson and draft capital.
Ahead of the deadline, it seemed that the writing was on the wall for a Kuzma trade, especially following his frustrations about the team's struggles and the direction of the franchise moving forward. And while fans weren't so concerned with the idea of moving the forward, the thoughts about what the team got in return for the 29-year-old.
However, after one game into the postseason, Washington's decision to trade the wing looks smarter by the hour.
Kuzma put together an all-time bad playoff performance
The Milwaukee Bucks are locked in to a first-round showdown against the Indiana Pacers. Heading into Saturday's game with Damian Lillard still sidelined, Doc Rivers and his squad were hoping to see the team's supporting cast around Giannis Antetokounmpo step up for the team to potentially steal Game 1 in Indiana.
Of the players who MIlwaukee thought could rise to the occasion was Kuzma, who has shown flashes in the past of being an elite scorer and versatile playmaker. However, on Saturday, the Utah product didn't show anything positive. In fact, he managed to play himself out of the game.
Kuzma started the game for the Bucks, but after an 0/5 shooting night and quite literally no other impact on the game, Rivers and his staff opted to move away from him down the stretch as he only logged 22 minutes with the team rolling with a mixture of AJ Green, Gary Trent Jr and Kevin Porter Jr. down the stretch.
In those 22 minutes of play, Kuzma managed to log a -24 on the team's +/- tracker proving just how bad he was for Milwaukee.
Of course, the entire Bucks team outside of Antetokounmpo and a few bench pieces looked terrible in the team's first game against the Pacers. But considering Kuzma seemed to be a prime candidate to step up in this matchup, his performance was an absolute nightmare.
Although the Wizards aren't in the postseason, if Kuzma and the Bucks don't get their acts together fast, they'll be on the couch with them sooner rather than later.
