The Washington Wizards are in position to make moves this offseason as they continue to build towards the future.

As of now, Washington has multiple solid young pieces to build around, but they're in a situation where they can afford to take a swing on potential.

That said, here's a look at a few low-risk, high-reward trade candidates the Wizards could target over the coming months.

1) F Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets

Cam Whitmore headlines this list of potential trade targets mostly due to the fact he's likely the most available.

The former Villanova standout was selected with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft after falling out of the lottery due to concerns of a foot injury. Prior to him slipping, Whitmore was expected to be a top 10 pick and arguably a top five talent.

In limited opportunities with the Rockets, the 6-foot-7 forward has shown flashes of how dynamic he can be, but buried in the Ime Udoka's depth chart has made it tough for his development.

Heading into the offseason, it seems the Rockets are considering moving on from Whitmore as he continues to be unhappy with his current role on the team.

If the Wizards wanted to take a swing on a athletic wing, Whitmore would be a solid choice.

Through two seasons with the Rockets, Whitmore is averaging 10.8 points and 3.4 rebounds, while shooting 44.9% from the field and 35.7% from three.

2) G Jaden Ivey, Detroit Pistons

Jaden Ivey is a former top five pick from the 2022 NBA Draft and has impressed in each of his first three seasons in the league.

The former Purdue star was in the midst of a career-year for Detroit, averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4 assists before a season-ending injury cut his season short.

Ivey will be returning from injury and while that's not the most appealing situation for team's looking to make a deal for the guard, it could potentially lower the asking price for the Pistons if they do decide to move him, which alone is uncertain.

However, the Wizards have multiple veterans that could impact winning as well as a handful of young players that could entice a Detroit team who is cleary looking to contend in the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later.

3) G Keyonte George, Utah Jazz

Keyonte George was drafted with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and he seemed poised to be the leading point guard for the Utah Jazz moving forward.

However, the Baylor product has seemingly spent half of his time with Utah coming off the bench, which brings the question of how highly the Jazz truly view him moving forward.

George is coming off a career-best season, averaging 16.8 points, 5.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds. The talent is clearly there, and perhaps a change of scenery would allow the playmaker to take the next steps to flourish in a role as a lead guard.

Considering both the Jazz and Wizards are in the beginning stages of a rebuild, it woulnd't be a shock to see these two squads make a deal to exchange young talent.
