The Washington Wizards enter the offseason with plenty of big roster decisions to make ahead of next season. However, one decision could be made for them with the recent buzz about Malcolm Brogdon's market heading into free agency.

Malcolm Brogdon landed with the Wizards last offseason in a draft night deal that essentially sent Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Brogdon and the draft pick to land Bub Carrington.

The idea to acquire the veteran guard was mainly for the idea that his leadership and professionalism would be beneficial to surround their young core around and help guide them in the right direction towards the future.

Obviously, at 32, Brogdon wasn't considered a long-term fit to stay in Washington moving forward which is part of the reason why the Wizards fielded calls from interested teams ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline in February for the Virginia product.

However, on an expiring deal, it didn't come as a surprise to see the guard remain on the roster past the deadline with interested teams electing to just pursue the guard in free agency.

One team in particular has been showing interest in Brogdon for the last few years.

Clippers interested in Brogdon ahead of free agency

The LA Clippers have been a team linked to Malcolm Brogdon ahead of free agency, and it doesn't come as a surprise considering the previous interest they've shown in the past.

In 2023, LA nearly acquired Brogdon in a three-team deal that involved the Wizards when Washington elected to trade Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics. Nonetheless, the deal was rescinded after the Clippers got cold feet on the injury status of the guard and with time running out on Porzingis' player option, Boston elected to trade Marcus Smart instead in a seperate deal.

Ironically, both Smart and Brogdon found their way to the Wizards, but that's a story for another time.

Fast forward to now, the Clippers interest in Brogdon seems to remain very real, and they'll likely be an intriguing option for the playmaker to consider in free agency.

In 24 games with the Wizards this season, Brogdon averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds, while shooting 43.3% from field goal range and 28.6% from three.

Although his tenure with the Wizards seems to be headed towards an end, the wisdom he shared with the young core in Washington will remain, even if he set to depart in free agency.
