Anthony Davis hasn't publicly stated his desire to be traded away from the Washington Wizards, but there's been enough noise to read between the lines.,

The big man wants to play for a playoff team and between his comments during an in-person interview with the Today Show's Craig Melvin and cryptic social media activity, it goes without saying that if he's dealt before next season, it won't be a surprise.

Still, the fanbase is split with some fans hoping the All-Star reconsiders buying into what general manager Will Dawkins and the Wizards are building in the DMV and others hoping the team just moves on to avoid any distractions.

Based on the recent reports from NBA Insider Marc Stein, it seems like Washington has already come to terms with the fact that moving on from AD may be the best resolution for all parties.

Anthony Davis has been mentioned in trade talks

According to Stein's comments in a recent interview on the SiriusXM NBA Radio, Davis has been mentioned in trade talks, and while nothing has been serious as of now, it's worth mentioning that Washington seems to be at least considering an additional move.

The original vision when trading for Davis was building around the superstar duo between him and Trae Young.

Between the potential of the newly formed duo and his impact as a mentor to the young prospects on the team, specifically rising star Alex Sarr, Davis seemed like the perfect swing for Washington ahead of the deadline.

Fast forward to now, the Wizards will likely regret taking a swing on the veteran forward if he forced his way out of the DMV before ever suiting up in a Wizards jersey.

Then again, there's still a scenario in which the Wizards don't grant his wish, and Davis is forced to see it through.

Wizards could decline to trade Davis

Washington can only do so much to make someone buy into the long-term vision, but there's genuinely a lot to be excited about for the Wizards.

The young talent on the roster is special, Trae Young seems excited about the fresh start, and the team has the tools to continue building their roster moving forward.

If the Wizards truly want to play hardball, they have AD under contract for the next couple of years, and they could refuse to entertain any offers in hopes that the big man reevaluates his situation.

If not, it seems like potential suitors for Davis are already starting to reveal themselves.
