Entering the NBA All-Star break, the Washington Wizards will be forced to go another year without seeing a player of their own in the All-Star game.
Although the Wizards will have 3 players in the NBA Rising Stars game, the trend of no All-Stars on the roster continues. Considering Washington is 9-45 at the break, it doesn't come as a surprise that the players on the team didn't get much recognition from the league this time around.
However, with a weekend full of All-Star festivities, I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane.
That said, here's a look at the Wizards last 5 All-Star players ranked by their production on the team.
5) Antawn Jamison (2007-08)
Antawn Jamison joined the Wizards in 2004 after spending majority of his NBA career in Golden State. The former lottery pick spent six season in Washington, where he put together multiple solid seasons. However, his most impressive season came during the 2007-08 season when he was selected to the All-Star game alongside Caron Butler.
Jamison averaged 21.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists during his All-Star season.
4) Caron Butler (2007-08)
As mentioned above, Caron Butler joined Jamison in the All-Star game during the 2007-08 season. The UConn product was a pivotal part of the Wizards success that season averaging 20.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Following his All-Star season in Washington, the forward spent two more seasons with the Wizards before being dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2009-10 season.
3) John Wall (2017-18)
John Wall needs no introduction to Wizards fans as he was a fan favorite player during his time in Washington. The former Kentucky star was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by Washington in the 2010 NBA Draft and he quickly proved to be the player the team drafted him to be.
Wall was selected to an All-Star game five seperate times, but his most recent selection came in the 2017-18 season; one year prior to his departure. The star guard averaged 19.4 points, 9.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds during this season earning his final All-Star selection before injuries derailed his career.
2) Gilbert Arenas (2006-07)
Gilbert Arenas is another former Wizards star that found himself selected to the All-Star game multiple times. However, his final All-Star season with Washington came during the 2006-07 season.
Arenas averaged 28.4 points, 6.0 assists and 4.6 rebounds during this season as the heart and soul of the Wizards team.
1) Bradley Beal (2020-21)
Bradley Beal comes in at No. 1 mainly for his ability to stay through the hard times and try his best to give the Wizards a chance to build a team around him. The Florida product was selected to multiple All-Star games, but his most recent and final appearance was not only the last one for him, but the Wizards franchise as a whole.
Beal averaged 31.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game proving to be one of the best Wizards in franchise history.
Now, with all these Wizards in the past, it'll be interesting to see which Wizards player has the best chance to be named to an All-Star team next.
