The Washington Wizards haven't been on the winning side of much over the last few years, especially when it comes to the NBA Draft.

Washington's fanbase has been forced to deal with the harsh reality that not only is the team not close to competing for a playoff spot, but the likelihood that the Wizards front office could capitalize on the team's misfortune when the draft came around was highly unlikely.

Looking at the team's recent history with draft picks, the likes of Johnny Davis, Corey Kispert, amd Deni Avdija, who waited to breakout until joining the Portland Trail Blazers all but adds pain to a fanbase who's struggled to find much optimism being a Wizards supporter.

Nonetheless, Washington has seemingly turned their luck around when it relates to the NBA Draft over the last couple years, with the likes of Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George emerging as two breakout stars or the Wizards this season.

Sarr's emergence is a major win for the Wizards, especially considering the team best mostly on the raw prospects potential rather than the production he put together internationally.

Meanwhile, the sophomore leap for George has put the Wizards in position where the team finally can feel confident with the prospects the team has begin to stack on their young core as the rebuild in the DMV continues.

However, while the emergence of George in specific has been a major development for Wizards fans, the draft day steal only gets better when considering the Knicks misfortune into the forward's breakout.

Knicks traded two high-upside prospect away to the Wizards benefit

New York has found themselves on the wrong end of their recent draft day decisions.

Not only did the Knicks trade George to the Wizards on draft night, but their mistakes only grew worse when the team opted to trade their second-round pick Ajay Mitchell to the Oklahoma City Thunder one round later.

George is in the midst of a career-year, while making a legit case for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Mitchell ha emerged as a top candidate to make a run for the Sixth Man of the Year award on the reigning champs.

As for the Wizards, not only are they reaping the benefit of having George breakout, but they also have the benefit of knowing had Mitchell stayed put in New York, the Wizards could be forced to deal with New York having a legit difference maker on their bench.

All that to say, the Knicks recent draft mistakes is a big win for the Wizards moving forward.
