The Washington Wizards have made it clear that when there's a move to be made that the front office feels will get them one step closer to their ultimate goal, the front office won't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Between the acquisitions of four-time All-Star Trae Young and future Hall of Famer Anthony Davis ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Washington has proved just how aggressive they're willing to be to take the next step.

Young was viewed as an obvious target, especially when considering the glaring hole in the team's backcourt, while Davis was more of a shocking move.

The shock behind the decision to land Davis stems from the fact that the forward is 32-years-old with a bit of an injury history that overshadows just how good he is at his best.

However, the Wizards' decision to take the swing on the Mavericks' big man aligns with the motivation to bolster their frontcourt alongside Alex Sarr; a motive that was made crystal clear over the last few months.

Nonetheless, the arrival of Davis won't make much of an impact this season, and after offloading the contract of Marvin Bagley III within the deal, there's still a need to add another big man to the roster.

After a failed stint from G-League standout Skal Labissiere on a 10-day contract, Washington has the chance to take a swing on another former top 10 pick after the latest development out west.

Spurs release Jeremy Sochan making him perfect Wizards target

Jeremy Sochan becomes the latest and arguably the most intruguing prospect to hit the open market after being released from his deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

The 6-foot-8 forward was drafted with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after showing flashes of his potential during his lone season at Baylor.

Unfortunately, the 22-year-old hasn't exactly developed how the Spurs would have hoped and after falling out of the team's rotation as of late, the team attempted to find a trade partner ahead of the deadline.

Obviously, a trade never came to fruition, which eventually led to the team's decision to part ways with the forward.

Now, Sochan becomes an intriguing target on the market for several teams, but in specifically a squad like the Wizards could view him as an ideal low-risk high-reward target.

Giving the big man the chance to develop with meaningful minutes alongside a talented group that fits with his developmental timeline, a restart in Washington could be the exact opportunity Sochan is searching for.
