1 Question for every Wizards player as countdown to busy summer begins
By Arrick Joel
Following Saturday's victory over the Toronto Raptors, the Washington Wizards' flight is on a steady descent toward the end of the 2023-24 regular season. With just 11 games remaining on the schedule, the NBA playoffs are out of reach, turning the organization's focus toward this summer's draft and free agency period.
In his first season as general manager, Will Dawkins has navigated the Wizards' first true rebuild in quite some time. However, with a spot in the NBA Draft lottery secured, the most important part of the rebuilding process lies ahead for Dawkins and the Wizards' front office. While scouting draft prospects, the Wizards will have some questions to answer regarding several of the team's key contributors this season.
1. Is the team going to re-sign Tyus Jones this summer?
The most complicated decision for the Wizards this offseason comes at the point guard position. The Wizards acquired Tyus Jones, who is set to hit free agency at season's end, from the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a three-team trade this past June. This season, Jones is due $14 million guaranteed and will likely command a larger figure on the open market this summer after posting a career-high 41.4 percent three-point percentage with the Wizards.
