1 Question for every Wizards player as countdown to busy summer begins
By Arrick Joel
2. Is Jordan Poole going to be the point guard going forward?
With Jordan Poole's recent success under interim coach Brian Keefe and the 24-year-old guard under contract until the summer of 2027, it would be fair to assume Poole is the Wizards' point guard of the future. However, if the Wizards decide to re-sign Jones, the team may continue to bring Poole in off the bench as they have since returning from the All-Star break.
While Poole has scored more efficiently as a reserve option, his season-long statistics have been skewed by the Wizards' in-season coaching change. His playmaking ability warrants his consideration as a starter going forward.
3. Will the Wizards retain Isaiah Livers' contract this summer?
In late February, the Wizards announced Isaiah Livers would miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with inflammation of the joint capsule in his right hip. The move to trade for the 25-year-old forward was a welcome one in D.C. as Poole previously played with Livers at the University of Michigan.
While Livers continues to nurse his hip injury, he has yet to make his debut for the Wizards. With his entry level contract set to expire, Livers will enter restricted free agency this summer, meaning the Wizards will be able to match any offer sheet presented to him. Dawkins and the front office will be on the look out for Livers' market this summer.
