3 Players the Wizards need to avoid with pick No. 2 in 2024 NBA Draft
By Jack Simone
The Washington Wizards are entering the offseason with a very unique perspective - anything goes. Nothing is set in stone in Washington, which isn’t great, but it also means they could take their team in any direction they want.
In the case of the 2024 NBA Draft, that means the Wizards could go after any position, draft any player, and take a chance on any level of project they see fit.
Unfortunately for them, this year’s draft is supposed to be one of the worst in recent memory. There may not be any generational talents available for them to select.
But while they may not be able to hit big, they could very well strike out. So, here are five players the Wizards should look to avoid with the second pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
1. Nikola Topic
This year’s draft is all over the place. Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher seem like the popular choices to go first and second (more on them later), but the Wizards could theoretically take this pick in any direction they wanted.
Nikola Topic looks solid. He fits the bill of the huge international point guards that have found some success in the league in the past. But he’s not for Washington.
The upside of Topic is clear. If the Wizards picked him and he turned into the next Luka Doncic (highly unlikely), then it would be great. But if he doesn’t, then they run the risk of landing the next big point guard who’s slow on defense and can’t really shoot.
