3 Players the Wizards need to avoid with pick No. 2 in 2024 NBA Draft
By Jack Simone
3. Zaccharie Risacher
This is perhaps the most controversial name on this list of players the Washington Wizards should avoid with the second pick, as they are widely mocked to pick Zaccharie Risacher at that spot.
Alex Sarr has been largely projected to go to the Atlanta Hawks at pick one, with Risacher going to the Wizards second overall. But they shouldn’t make that selection.
Risacher has all the tools to be a solid player in the NBA. He’s a good three-point shooter, has the tools to be a solid defender at the NBA level, and can handle the ball pretty well.
However, he’s not really a shot creator, his interior finishing needs some serious work, and though he’s shot well from distance this past year, it’s the first time he’s done so in his career.
If his three-point shooting proves to be more of a fluke than a reality, the team that drafts him could have some cold water splashed in their face real quick.
Rather than taking Risacher with the second pick, the Wizards should consider either trading back or simply taking UConn center Donovan Clingan or Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard with the second pick.
Risacher could end up being the perfect pick for Washington, but Clingan and Sheppard seem like better ones.
