What is the market for Tyus Jones?

The 76ers sent James Harden packing, but are looking for roster upgrades before the deadline. They are third in the Eastern Conference and Joel Embiid is having another dominant season. Philadelphia is projected to have significant cap space this summer and would love to keep their options open. Can Daryl Morey and the Sixers acquire another expiring contract before the deadline and a marquee free agent this summer?

ESPN noted this one of the trades they would like to see (subscription required). It has the Wizards getting two expiring contacts and two second-round draft picks for Tyus Jones before Feb. 8.

Jones to 76ers

The Wizards have little use for Robert Covington, but Kenyon Martin Jr. may carve out a role. He has barely played this season but averaged 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 28.0 minutes per game for the Rockets in 2023. Martin is only 23 years old and could become a key piece for Washington down the stretch.

The 76ers give up two second-round picks to solve their ball-handling and playmaking woes. It is a discount price caused by Jones’ expiring contract. The Washington Wizards would love to get more, but can they find a team willing to offer it? This may be the best option on the board before the deadline.
