As the Washington Wizards get ready to enter the offseason, they will have a ton of tough decisions to make. Whether it be the NBA Draft, free agency, or the trade market, they will have to make some choices.
At the forefront of most of their discussions should be Kyle Kuzma. While he’s played well for the Wizards, trading him this offseason to capitalize on his value and prioritize their young players would be smart.
Kuzma is a quality veteran power forward who could provide a playoff team with a nice scoring punch and some underrated rebounding at the four spot. And there are going to be some interested teams this offseason.
One team that will be interested in Kuzma is a squad that has already inquired about him in the past—the Sacramento Kings.
Wizards and Kings will discuss Kyle Kuzma trade again this offseason
According to Matt Moore of Action Network, the Kings and Wizards are expected to restart trade talks for Kuzma this summer as both sides look to spearhead new directions. The two teams spoke about a potential Kuzma trade at the deadline.
After talks at the deadline, the Kings are expected to renew conversations with Washington for Kyle Kuzma, especially with the Wizards potentially adding a front-court starter in the draft later this month.
This past year, the Kings won their first Play-In Tournament game, but they ended up losing to the New Orleans Pelicans in the second game, missing out on the playoffs.
Led by Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox, the Kings could use some help at the forward position alongside sharpshooter Keegan Murray, who is also a part of the Kings’ core.
In all likelihood, a Kuzma trade would see the Wizards get back either Harrison Barnes or Kevin Huerter. Washington could also ask for young point guard Davion Mitchell, who fell out of Sacramento’s rotation last year.
For the Kings, Kuzma’s scoring would provide them with an extra offensive outlet to run through, and while he’s not the best defender in the world, he would certainly help them on that end overall.
The Kings also have the 13th and 45th picks in this year’s draft, so they could leverage those in a potential deal for Kuzma.
