1. Kyle Kuzma
The Wizards nearly traded Kuzma to the Mavericks (subscription required) before last season’s deadline. They had an offer, but the 6’9 forward did not want to move. He is helping the Wizards build an identity and gives them a skilled scorer at the top of their roster.
Kuzma was in trade rumors this offseason, and those are not going away. Several contenders want a forward with the size capable of filling multiple roles. They are not eager to overpay, but there will be enticing offers in the months ahead.
Washington is in no rush. The 29-year-old has three years left on a descending contract. He will make $64.4 million and has proved he could play a key role on the Lakers' 2020 championship squad. Kuzma wants to stay in the nation’s capital and his contract is a bargain. The Wizards will only trade him for the right package.
The Washington Wizards have multiple veterans to move before the trade deadline. There will be limited sellers, which will put Washington in an advantageous position. Kyle Kuzma is likely one of the top players available. Expect plenty of rumors and stay tuned to see what their front office can make happen to push their rebuild forward.
