Wizards' flashy alley-oop slam ranked as NBA's top play from Sunday

Each day, the NBA releases a top 10 list of the most exciting plays from around the association, following the league's brightest stars and highlighting their brightest moments. Following league play on Sunday, the NBA released its rankings for the top play of the day and the Washington Wizards reigned supreme.
On top of the list was a play from the Wizards' 114-105 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Capital One Arena, which involved newly-acquired forward Richaun Holmes and two-way guard Jared Butler connecting on a show-stopping alley-oop jam.
Butler and Holmes' highlight connection ranks atop NBA's top 10 plays
During a busy 11-game slate in the NBA, coming up with the top play in the league is no easy task. Butler and Holmes came up with a eye-opening connection for the Wizards that excited fans across the NBA.
Driving towards the basket part way into the third quarter, Butler surveyed the defense, finding his target in Holmes. However, the 23-year-old guard added a little something extra to the play, turning to look at forward Kyle Kuzma in the corner before lobbing up a no-look pass to Holmes, who reached up with one hand and threw down a monster dunk.
Several great plays were produced around the league, including Los Angeles Clippers center Daniel Theis and Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis trading poster dunks in the NBA's nightcap. However, none outranked the highlight play completed by the Wizards on Sunday.
Holmes finished the night with 11 points and 7 rebounds, both of which rank as his best since joining the Wizards in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks two weeks ago. The eight-year NBA veteran will look to continue providing an impact for his team as he did against the Cavaliers.
The Wizards will return to action on Tuesday as the District welcomes in the Golden State Warriors for the second game of a two-game season series.
