On Sunday, the Washington Wizards welcomed the Boston Celtics into the Capital One Arena for a St. Patrick's Day clash. With seven players out, including key starters such as Kyle Kuzma and Deni Avdija, the Wizards were likely doomed from the start against the class of the NBA. While the Celtics ultimately came away with a 130-104 victory, led by dual 30-point games from Sam Hauser and Jayson Tatum, Wizards guard Jordan Poole made the most of his minutes against a tough opponent.

With six and half minutes to play in the third quarter and his team down 96-67, interim coach Brian Keefe subbed Poole out in favor of Jared Butler. The Wizards' leading scorer would not return to the floor for the remainder of the game, ending his evening with 31 points in just over 23 minutes of action.

The performance was one of Poole's best as a member of the Wizards, shooting 12-of-19 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. His 63.2 percent shooting ranks as his second-most efficient scoring output of the season behind only his 30-point night in a win over the Indiana Pacers this past December.

Jordan Poole's efficient scoring among best in franchise history

Following the game, Monumental Sports reporter Chase Hughes shared a statistic involving Poole's play against the Celtics. According to Hughes, Poole's performance on Sunday was just the third in Wizards history in which a player has eclipsed 30 points in under 25 minutes of play.

Poole's efficient use of his minutes puts him into this exclusive class in franchise history, which features 13-time All-Star Moses Malone. Despite the impressive scoring output from Malone, English, and Poole, oddly enough, the Wizards came out losers of each of these three games.

With the Houston Rockets set to visit the District on Tuesday and the Wizards' injury report still lengthy, Poole will look to continue his activity on offense in hopes of snapping the team's four-game losing streak before it gets out of hand.
