Wizards vs. Mavericks NBA expert prediction and odds for Monday, Feb. 12 (Trust Wizards)
By Peter Dewey
The Washington Wizards are in the midst of a six-game losing streak, and they are just one game ahead of the Detroit Pistons, who have the worst record in the NBA.
Now, Washington has a tough matchup as a double-digit underdog against the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas. The Mavs are coming off a massive 35-point win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are both playing at a high level, but this Washington team has been frisky – at least at covering the spread – on the road this season.
This is an interesting meeting since these teams orchestrated a deadline deal, where Daniel Gafford was sent to Dallas in exchange for Richaun Holmes and a first-round pick.
Does Gafford get revenge on his former team and help Dallas cover this massive spread?

Wizards vs. Mavericks key players to watch
Washington Wizards
Jordan Poole: It’s been a rough season for Poole, who is shooting just 40.4 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from 3. The young guard responded from a scoreless game to put up 19 against the Boston Celtics, but he shot just eight shots in his last game, scoring 11 points. He could be an X-Factor if he had a big game.
Dallas Mavericks
PJ Washington: The newest Maverick made his Dallas debut in a 35-point win over Oklahoma City, scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 24:29 of action. He also added five rebounds. Washington could work himself into the No. 3 option for the Mavs this season.
Wizards vs. Mavericks prediction and pick
Dallas will most likely win this game, but I think this is a great spot to bet on Washington to cover the spread.
The Wizards were able to hang tough with the Boston Celtics on Friday night as 18-point underdogs, and the team is one of the best in the NBA as a road underdog, going 16-9-1 ATS.
Dallas has gone just 7-9 ATS when favored at home, and this is a big number to ask the team to cover. When playing as road underdogs, the Wizards are losing by an average margin of just 7.5 points per game.
Dallas’ offense is scary with Doncic, Irving and Washington now all in the fold, but the Wizards certainly can match Dallas’ pace (Washington is No. 1 in pace this season). If the Wizards don’t throw up a clunker offensively, they should be able to hang in this game.
