The Washington Wizards future is bright and for a first time in awhile, saying those words don't seem like a false claim.
General manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger have perfectly executed the rebuilding stage for the Wizards, finding talent in every avenue possible, while making the most of every bad situation.
From missing out on the top pick twice and landing premiere talents like Alex Sarr and Tre Johnson, to finding hidden gems like Kyshawn George and Tristan Vukcevic to name a few.
However, of the prospects the team has added to the roster over the years, maybe the most intriguing of them all has been rookie standout Will Riley, who continues to turn heads throughout his first season in the league.
And if you ask NBA Draft guru Sam Vecenie, the one rook who's brought the most excitement to watch this season, his answer would be Riley.
Sam Vecenie is extremely high on Will Riley
In a recent social media post, Vecenie made it clear who he's had his eyes on as of late:
"Think the rookie I've had the most fun watching over the last month or so is Wizards wing Will Riley," Vecenie said. "I love what that dude is about. Totally fearless driving to the rim from the wing with real body control and skill."
And considering the flashes he's shown over the recent stretch of the last couple months, it doesn't come as a shock to see the NBA mind reveal that.
Averaging 14+ points per gae in each of the last two months, the Illinois product has continued to add fuel to a Wizards hype train that fans were already fully onboard of.
Beyond the fact that Vecenie seemed to be fully invested in the development of Riley, his interest in the savvy playmaker confirms what fans already know.
Wizards have an abundance of potential stars
As mentioned above, names like Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson and Kyshawn George have already emerged as building blocks for the Wizards alongside the new superstar duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis.
But with the sudden emergence of Riley, along with the flashes of other young prospects on the roster over the course of the season, there's plenty of talent to like in Washington moving forward.
Fans are excited for a reason and if things continue trending the way it has, the Wizards will be contending sooner rather than later.
