The Washington Wizards made several offseason additions that not only add excitement to the incoming season, but the future as a whole.

Between Washington's strong incoming draft class and aggressive offseason moves from general manager Will Dawkins, the Wizards depth chart looks drastically different than it did when the team's regular season finale came against the Miami Heat in April.

Looking at several newcomers including the likes of CJ McCollum, Tre Johnson and Cam Whitmore, there's plenty of debuts for fans to look forward to as the season looms around the corner.

Obviously, the most exciting debut that both the team and the fanbase is excited for is incoming rookie and reigning No. 6 overall pick Tre Johnson's.

The former Texas star has all the talent to be the cornerstone the Wizards have desperately been seeking and whether that comes in year one or down the road, there's plenty of hype surrounding his role on Brian Keefe's squad next season.

However, it may not be Johnson that can be the offseason addition to turn the Wizards offense from stud to dud this coming season.

Instead, it could be the one offseason addition that may not be getting talked about enough.

That addition? Cam Whitmore.

Washington's acquisition of Whitmore not only came as a surprise, but the ridiculously cheap price the Wizards landed the Villanova product for in a deal with the Houston Rockets was a head scratching decision of its own.

The fromer first-round pick has shown flashes of how impactful he can be throughout his first two seasons in H-Town, and largely due to how explosive he can be as an offensive scorer.

Whitmore has the offensive upside to be a 20 point per game scorer and that's on the low end of how good he could be in the right situation.

In Houston, Whitmore didn't have the opportunity to prove how valuable he could be as the focal point in a system.

However, in Washington, that could change completely. The Wizards not only have the room to allow Whitmore to grow through his mistakes, but they have the ability to design an offensive scheme that puts him in position to thirve, especially if they believe he could be a centerpiece of their rebuild moving forward.

If Whitmore breaks out, the young core including Johnson, Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and even AJ Johnson could be among one of the brightest young teams in the league moving forward
