The Washington Wizards continue making roster moves as the offseason unfolds and this time it comes at the expense of two-way player Jaylen Martin.

Washington opted to request waivers on Martin on Monday evening after spending the last year as a member of the Wizards G-League affiliate.

As a member of the Capital City Go-Go, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 20 games.

At times, Martin showed flashes of his ability to impact the game at a high-level, but with his inefficient shooting splits of 44.2% from field goal range and 24.4% from beyond the arc, it became evident fairly quick that his development would be a bit more of a project than the Wizards were looking for.

In the NBA, talent only gets you so far. Reliability and the ability to make an impact on the court consistently is what allows you to stick. For Martin, he undoubtedly didn't show enough for the Wizards front office brass to believe that it was worth their time to keep him around.

Nonetheless, as a former member of the Overtime Elite, it's clear that the 21 year old has plenty of talent and while he deserves an opportunity to continue developing his game, he'll have to find that opportunity elsewhere as Washington opens up a two-way roster spot giving them even more flexibility moving forward.

So what's next for the Wizards?

Washington has plenty of moves left up their sleeves as they continue to navigate the offseason.

There's no doubt that general manager Will Dawkins has been a busy man and as the team continues to explore every avenue to alter their roster prior to the 2025 season, they'll now add yet another task to the to-do list with a vacant two-way spot at their disposal.

As of now, the Wizards have two of three available two-way spots filled with former second-round pick Tristan Vukcevic and defensive standout Jamir Watkins set to compete with the Wiz and Capital City Go-Go this coming season.

Whether they plan to fill the vacant spot immediately is unknown, but assuming their is no move imminent, the Wizards will have the chance to monitor the landscape of the league moving forward to see if any roster cuts award them a player of interest to take a swing on and add to their young roster.

Regardless, there's more moves to come for the Wizards.
