The Washington Wizards were once considered the laughing stock of the NBA.
It became a yearly ritual for the Wizards to make a move that would confuse the NBA world and leave teams wondering how Washington has yet to hit the reset button.
Well, in 2023 the team finally did and they moved on from former superstar guard Bradley Beal in a deal with the Phoenix Suns that ultimately saved the team from suffering the pain that the playmaker's no-trade clause ultimately brought Phoenix .
As part of the return for Beal, Washington was tasked to deal with the roller coaster ride of an experiment that Jordan Poole brought to the DMV after flipping Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for the young guard.
In addition, Washington was already dealing with the looming decision of moving on from Kyle Kuzma, who the team seemingly missed every opportunity to offload when his value was at its highest.
Ultimately, the Wizards roster shuffling allowed for the team's front office to replace both Kuzma and Poole with a young roster led by veterans CJ McColum and Khris Middleton entering the regular season.
Fast forwad to now, the Wizards new regime of general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball have pulled of the unthinkable proving that not only are they the men for the job, but that Washington is a team on the rise.
Wizards net ultimate return for Beal, Kuzma
The Wizards began trade season with a blockbuster trade for four-time All-Star Trae Young, who listed Washington as a preferred landing spot after his tenure with the Atlanta Hawks came to an end.
Following the Young acquisition, many expected Washington to stay active on the trade market with the potential to make another splash for a talent that could fit their timeline such as a Jonathan Kuminga or even a Domantas Sabonis.
However, nobody expected the Wizards to make another blockbuster trade out of left field with their recent addition of 32-year-old star Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks.
While the two moves certainly offer plenty of questions about the direction Washington is headed in, it offers one clear answer that should add plenty of optimism for the fanbase.
That answer? The Wizards managed to net an insnae return for both Beal and Kuzma.
An NBA trade deadline week stunner. Clearly, the Wizards have completed their deconstruction phase and are now moving toward Young and Davis leading a rising young core. Washington has turned its previous Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma trades into Young, Davis and five pick swaps.

Essentially flipping Beal and Kuzma for TRAE YOUNG, ANTHONY DAVIS and 5 (!!!) pick swaps is a huge win no matter what side of the fence you stand on in regards to Washington's blockbuster moves.
