Tre Johnson brings a level of excitment to the Washington Wizards that the organization has desperately needed after the last decade.

After several losing seasons and being forced to watch two star players waste their prime in Washington, the fanbase has been deprived of excitement.

When the front office finally came to realization that it was time to press the restart button, fans came face-to-face with the harsh reality that their team wouldn't be good anytime in the near future.

Over last the few years, the Wizards front office has taken multiple swings on high-upside talent in the NBA Draft lottery with Deni Avidja, Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington coming to mind,

Avdija is a bit of a sore subject considering his breakout season with the Portland Trail Blazers after the Wizards moved on from him.

Coulibaly still has a ways to go in his development and despite the flashes he's shown, it's hard for fans to believe that he can be a building block if he doesn't prove capable of a big leap in year three.

Sarr showed extreme potential during his rookie campaign, but it became clear early that he wouldn't be the franchise-changing player the Wizards hoped he could be .

Carrington is another player with raw talent that needs plenty of development to be a steady force for the roster.

The young talent on the roster is intriguing, but there hasn't been an incoming player yet that the Wizards and their fanbase could look at and say "this guy could change everything"...until now.

Johnson has the chance to be the exact prospect the Wizards have been looking for and a large reason why is his natural ability to score at a high-level,

Not only do we know that Johnson is a game-changer offensively, but general manager Will Dawkins' made it clear that he's fully aware too:

“This dude [Johnson] is a hooper," Dawkins said. "One thing we know he has is confidence”

Johnson's confidence is key and with his ability to score at will, that alone is going to change just how dangerous the Wizards can be.

If the former Texas star can prove to be the cornerstone, or atleast the building block the Wizards need, Washington will be in really good shape moving forward in their rebuild.

The confidence the front office and coaching staff already have in Johnson suggests that they may believe he could be that guy.
