The Washington Wizards currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the NBA Draft. but recent reports suggests the team's current standing in the draft order could be temporary.

With the NBA Draft less than a month away, NBA insiders continue to leak info inside what front offices around the league are planning with just a couple of weeks until the big day.

Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer revealed on Wednesday that the Wizards are a team that is seriously considering a trade up into the top three of the draft for Baylor's standout guard VJ Edgecombe.

To do that though, they'll have to put together an offer convincing enough to persuade the Philadelphia 76ers, who hold the No. 3 overall pick, to move back in the draft order and forfeit the chance to select Edgecombe who they reportedly have significant interest in as well.

However, there seems to be some hope for Wizards fans that are in favor of a move up to snag the athletic backcourt option. In Fischer's update, not only did he list the Wizards and Sixers as a team interested in Edgecombe, but he also revealed that Philadelphia seems open to moving back a few slots in efforts to accumulate additional draft compensation.

For teams outside of the top 10, it could deem difficult to put together a trade proposal that would entice the 76ers front office to pull the trigger on a potential deal considering they have the chance to add a top prospect who could make an immediate impact on what Daryl Morey believes is a playoff roster ahead of 2025.

Fortunately for the Wizards, the No. 6 overall pick is likely the exact position that Philadelphia would seriously consider a move back to be worth it, especially if Washington's general manager Will Dawkins finds a way to sweeten the pot and make it worth the 76ers while.

If Philadelphia truly is interested in Texas star Tre Johnson as recent buzz suggests, they could manage to draft their top choice at No. 6, while also adding additional assets at the same time.

Meanwhile, if the Wizards feel that Edgecombe is worth a bold move to trade into the top three, it's clear that the front office has confidence that the guard could be a cornerstone for them to build around moving forward.

As the NBA Draft continues to approach, be on the lookout for the trade winds to begin to blow, which could now involve a move from the Wizards.
