The Washington Wizards have several players with the potential to breakout heading into next season.
Alex Sarr is one player that most fans not only in Washington, but around the league are keeping theri eyes on.
As a former No. 2 overall pick, there's plenty expectations that the French product has to live up to, which in turn puts plenty of eyes on him.
Another top pick with plenty of eyes on him heading into the coming season is reigning No. 6 overall pick, Tre Johnson.
The Texas product has everything the Wizards are searching for when it comes to a potential cornerstone.
Between his talent, work ethic and desire to prove his doubters wrong and his believers right, Johnson's constant chip on his shoulder makes him a player that Washington can build around and a player who could be in the running for the NBA Rookie of the Year award when it's all said and done.
However, those two young players may be overshadowing the other breakout candidates on the roster.
In fact, Tre Johnson may not be the only Johnson on the Wizards roster with the chance to emerge as a big time playmaker in Washington's backcourt this year.
The other Johnson? AJ Johnson.
AJ Johnson landed in Washington ahead of the NBA trade deadline last February in the blockbuster trade that sent Kyle Kuzma to the Milwaukee Bucks and Khris Middleton to the DMV.
At the time, the former first round pick seemed like a throw in asset to sweeten the pot for the Wizards to take on the incoming contract tied to Middleton,
However, it was evident pretty quickly that while Johnson may have just been viewed as a throw in to some, including by Milwaukee, a change of scenery could be exactly what the raw prospect needed for his career to take off.
With the Wizards, the explosive guard saw an immediate increase of playing time and as a result, he took no time to show the flashes that made him a first round pick.
The 20-year-old had multiple big games last season after joining the Wizards and in Summer League, he showed the exact progress both the front office and fanbase hoped to see.
Heading into next season under Brian Keefe, the muscle Johnson added mixed with the potential he already has, puts him in position to be another breakout player Washington should be keeping their eyes on.
