The Washington Wizards haven't been quiet in terms of roster moves over the last month or so,

Washington has continously made changes to their roster since newcomer Cam Whitmore found himself sidelined for the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a blood clot issue.

After Whitmore's issue, the Wizards moved quickly to sign big man Skal Labissiere to a 10-day contract after being granted a Disable Player Exception.

Still, that would be the most underwhelming move ahead of the trade deadline with Washington making a pair of blockbuster moves that seemingly changed the direction of the team's future in the blink of an eye.

After landing four-time All-Star Trae Young and future Hall of Famer Anthony Davis in two of the biggest blockbuster trades ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Washington has made it clear that they have a desire to compete sooner rather than later.

However, throughout the team's series of moves ahead of the deadline, Washington found themselves landing several new additions, which alone gave the team a series of roster decisions to make over the last couple days.

Since then, Washington has already cut ties with one former lottery pick, who's stint in D.C. was just about as brief as they come.

Wizards waive Dante Exum

Dante Exum landed in Washington as part of the package the Dallas Mavericks sent to the DMV to offload the lucrative contract of their 32-year-old star.

The Australian product was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, where he spent four seasons before bouncing around the league.

After a failed stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Exum spent time playing overseas before finding an opportunity in Dallas, where he quickly became a vital piece to the Mavericks' bench unit on the way to their NBA Finals Run in 2024.

Despite that, Exum quickly found himself as the odd man out throughout the Mavs' trying start to the season, especially when it became clear the team was heading towards a bit of a retooling era.

As a result, the versatile guard was shipped to Washington, where he was quickly deemed as a waive candidate for the Wizards, who are prioritizing minutes for their young core.

Now, the former first-round pick lands on the open market with the chance to seek a fresh start elsewhere and potentially make a playoff run with a new squad.
