The Washington Wizards put together one of the most underrated draft classes to round out the two night 2025 NBA Draft.

Headlined by Texas star Tre Johnson at No. 6 overall, general manager Will Dawkins took swings on potential with a pair of strong value selections including Illinois freshman Will Riley and Florida State standout Jamir Watkins with their lone pick in the second round at No. 43.

However, the front office didn’t stop working after the draft as they immediately turned their attention to the undrafted free agent market where they landed an intriguing prospect.

Take a look at who will be joining Washington on an undrafted free agent deal as Summer League nears.

G Kadary Richmond, St. John’s

Kadary Richmond is the lone player to sign with the Wizards following the draft, but he’s one of the top

players available that multiple teams showed interest in.

The combo guard averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.9 steals this past season at St. John’s serving as a key piece for Rick Pitino’s Red Storm.

Richmond is an exceptional defender and he has the court vision that could immediately translate to playing time at the next level.

His biggest weakness is his lack of ability to shoot at an efficient rate which alone will be a priority for his development if he’s able to stick around with the Wizards.

Regardless, he has multiple intriguing traits that make him a solid developmental piece under head coach Brian Keefe, who’s already shown the potential to be a strong players coach after playing a pivotal role in the development of Jordan Poole in Washington.

Between the late pick of Watkins and now Richmond's signing, defense is clearly a direction the Wizards are pushing towards.

Nonetheless, Richmond joins an already stacked group of Wizards to potentially join the Summer League team heading into July.

Wizards potential Summer League roster:

Starters:

G Bub Carrington
G Tre Johnson
F Will Riley
F Kyshawn George
C Alex Sarr

Bench:

G AJ Johnson
F Jamir Watkins
G Kadary Richmond

Although the Wizards may not be in contention to make a push for the Larry O'Brien trophy anytime soon, they could prove that their rebuild is heading in the right direction in Summer League with a loaded roster that could make a push for the Summer League championship.

As of now, Richmond is the lone undrafted free agents to join the Wizards following the draft, but in the coming days, that could very well change, especially as free agency approaches quickly.
