The Washington Wizards future is in the hands of the team's young core and whatever additions the front office makes to it this upcoming offseason.

For majority of the season, it's safe to say that the team's reigning rookie class dealt with their fair share of struggles. However throughout it all, they also showed progress and flashes that can at least encourage the fans and the front office that their is hope for the future.

Of the rookies that the Wizards got the opportunity to monitor throughout the season, the one that has stood out down the stretch is reigning No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr. And that's not to say that fellow rookies Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George or even newcomer AJ Johnson haven't shown flashes, but Sarr has seperated himself up to this point.

Throughout the process, the rookie has manages to add his name to the NBA history books before his rookie campaign comes to an end.

Alex Sarr makes NBA history

Alex Sarr has shown his ability as a two-way player throughout his rookie season. The 7-footer is averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists, while shooting 39.5% from field goal range and 31.7% from three.

Obviously, his low shooting percentages are a cause for concern, but the hope is that a strong offseason working in that area in specific, especially inside the paint. can be a big boost for Sarr. Regardless, his versatility as a defender is arguably the most encouraging area of his game.

The forward is averaging 1.5 blocks per game on the season and his constant ability to pose a threat as a shot blocker has been huge for Washington's defense. Not only has it helped the Wizards on that end of the court, but it also helped the French product add his name to the history books.

Sarr added his name to one of three rookies in NBA history to block at least 95 shots and hitting at least 100 three-pointers throughout his first year. Addng his name alongside talents like Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama is a very encouraging sign for fans.

If the Wizards forward can put in the work this offseason, he has the opportunity to have a big second-year leap. The potential is off the charts for Sarr, but he has to improve in the main areas of his game to make that jump.

Regardless, Sarr's name will be in the history books forever.
