The Washington Wizards continue to make roster moves as the NBA offseason continues.

This time, general manager Will Dawkins has opted to try his hand on bringing in another former first-round pick by signing big man Skal Labissiere.

Labissiere returns to the NBA on a deal to join the Wizards training camp roster, in addition to Alondes Williams, who has also been signed to compete for a roster spot in Washington.

After a one-and-done college career at Kentucky, Labissiere entered the 2016 NBA Draft with high expectations as a former top recruit.

The former Wildcat was selected with the No. 28 overall pick by the Sacramento Kings and in his first two seasons in Sac-Town, he showed flashes of his potential to be a reliable frontcourt option.

However, a viable role player wasn't exactly what the Kings drafted him to become, which eventually led to him being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2018-19 season.

From there, things seemingly went down hill.

Not only did Labissiere struggle to stay on the court, but when he was healthy, his minimal role largely impacted his ability to stay on an NBA roster.

The near 7-footer returned to the Kings last season, where he appeared in only four games for Sacramento.

Now, he lands in Washington, where he'll compete for a spot in the Wizards front court against the likes of Marvin Bagley III (standard contract) and Tristan Vukcevic (two-way deal) to backup Alex Sarr heading into next season.

With Will Dawkins making it a point of emphasis to take swings on upside this offseason, it doesn't come as a surprise to see the team to take a flier on a talent like Labissiere, especially on a training camp deal.

At 29, there's still a chance he could show enough to earn a roster spot and play a solid role off the bench for the Wizards if he's able to carve out a role for Brian Keefe's squad,

Considering his strong play in the G-League this past year, averaging 16.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, it's a no-brainer for the Wizards to take a chance on the big man with their need to find adequate front court depth.

Between the additions of Labissiere and Williams, the Wizards are officially up to 20 rostered players making them one shy of the league limit for training camp.

That said, expect at least one more move to be made in the near future.
