The Washington Wizards have proven that they're not an organization that will be afraid to pull the trigger on a big trade.

Washington has quietly made a reputation for making swings on deals, especially if they believe it would get them one step closer to the light at the end of the tunnel of their rebuild.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Wizards have been viewed as a team that could be both buyers and sellers.

With several veterans who could be moved, and the desire to land high-upside talent, Washington could be gearing up to make a major swing if the right deal presents itself.

One team in specific who's been rumored to be gearing up towards an eventful trade season is the New Orleans Pelicans; a team the Wizards already have a history with when it comes to making deals.

With a generational talent and former No. 1 overall pick like Zion Williamson rumored to be available, it doesn't come as a shock to see the Wizards viewed as a potential team willing to make a blockbuster trade.

However, it may not be Williamson that the Wizards deem as the perfect trade target.

Wizards may have their eyes on another Pelican

As mentioned above, Williamson becoming available will likely attract several suitors willing to take a swing on his potential.

For a team like the Wizards, they may have their eyes on another talent that could be the perfect fit in the DMV.

That player? Trey Murphy III

The former first round pick made a name for himself in college at Virginia, where he proved to be a versatile offensive weapon.

Since seeing an increased role in New Orleans, the wing has emerged as a big-time playmaker averaging 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting 46.8% from field goal range and 36.3% from beyond the arc.

At 25, Murphy has all the tools to continue developing into a star player and in the right situation, he could prove to be a superstar.

If made available, it wouldn't be shocking to see a team like the Wizards make a push for the Virginia alum bringing him back to the East coast, giving them a versatile wing to pair in the frontcourt alongside Alex Sarr.

A move that makes all the sense in the world, especially with Cam Whitmore, who was hoped to take on that role, failing to live up to the Wizards standards since joining the team.
