The Washington Wizards entered Saturday's matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night with the opportunity to start a winning streak of their own.
Considering Milwaukee was without both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Wizards seemed to be in a good spot to steal a win on the road. And while that may be true, at times, Washington is their own biggest enemy when it comes to playing consistently on a nightly basis.
The Wizards fell to the shorthanded Bucks 112-101, and while the score may not look like this game was a disappointing loss, the odds seemed to be in Washington's hands. Milwaukee was without two key players and the Wizards still put up another performance where only a few players show up looking to compete for a win.
Nonetheless, here's a look at the players who did put up solid performances in the Wizards loss on the road.
Bilal Coulibaly continues to show flashes
Bilal Coulibaly's second-year leap this season has been one of the lone bright spots for the Wizards throughout the team's struggles. The French product has shown flashes of just how impactful he can be as a two-way player in this league and his ceiling continues to raise as he puts it all together.
The 20-year-old finished the battle against the Bucks with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while shooting 53.8% from field goal range (7/13 FG). In addition to his offensive output, Coulibaly shined on the defensive end with three steals and a block to add to his impressive stat line.
Jordan Poole puts together another solid night
Jordan Poole has received negative reviews throughout his career as being inconsistent, and while that is true at times, the Michigan product has strung together a couple of solid performances in a row. Following his solid night against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday, Poole carried the momentum with him to Milwaukee..
The guard ended his night with 26 points, five rebounds and three assists. Although the Wizards didn't steal a win, Poole did what he could to keep Washington in this one down the stretch.
Corey Kispert puts together solid bench performance
One of the keys to stealing a win on the road for the Wizards was getting a big performance from their bench. However, Corey Kispert seemed to be the only playmaker on the bench unit that made an impact in Milwaukee.
Kispert finished his night with 16 points while shooting an efficient 62.5% from field goal range (5/8 FG) and 60% from beyond the arc (3/5 3PT).
The Wizards next game will come on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
