The Washington Wizards were one of the most active teams prior to Thursday's NBA trade deadline.

Washington made multiple deals on both Wednesday and Thursday, some of which landed the Wizards players that will finish the season in D.C., and others that immediately resulted in veterans getting waived to hit the open market.

Before talking about which deal may be the biggest win for the Wizards in the long haul, here's a look at the players that were traded out of Washington, as well as a look at incoming players.

Incoming: Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Marcus Smart, Colby Jones, Alex Len and Marcus Smart

Outgoing: Kyle Kuzma, Jonas Valanciunas, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Marvin Bagley III, Johnny Davis, Jared Butler

In a number of deals, general manager Will Dawkins completely reshaped the Wizards roster. Bringing in multiple young pieces and a healthy mix of veterans who have won at the highest level. However, the biggest win at the deadline may have come from one of the deals that landed Washington something more valuable than any other player at the deadline.

Wizards land 2026 first-round pick from 76ers

The Wizards dealt guard Jared Butler and four second-round picks to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal that landed them a first-round pick in 2026 and veteran guard Reggie Jacskon who was soon waived.

Although this pick may not look like much now, at the rate the Sixers are going, this future draft pick has the potential to convey into a high selection.

With Philadelphia's roster structured around two of the more injury-prone players in the league in Joel Embiid and Paul George, by time 2026 comes around the Sixers could be in the midst of a tanking season that could allow a top pick to land right in the Wizards lap.

Considering Washington already is the frontrunner for the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, the thought process around adding a prospect such as Cooper Flagg to this Wizards young core is already enough to be excited about.

In addition, the possibility that Washington could then add another top pick, or two (!!) assuming the Wiz don't do a full 360 next year, makes this move even more exciting.

As the Wizards continue to build towards the future, Will Dawkins continues to make underrated moves that position the franchise to build something special in the District of Columbia.

Only time will tell what this pick turns into, but as of now, the Wizards are in position to take their odds in this wait-and-see game.
