The Washington Wizards are in full rebuild mode as the team sets their sights on the future rather than the now.

Washington has made several moves over the last month to position themselves for position to make some big decisions over the offseason. In addition to the team's hopes of earning the No. 1 overall pick and eventually Cooper Flagg if he declares, general manager Will Dawkins will be in position to make multiple trades in the offseason.

Between veterans like Malcolm Brogdon, Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart, Washington will be the go-to team for contenders or playoff ready teams looking to add immediate help.

Heading into the offseason, the team may have more tradable assets heading into the offseason than fans originally thought.

Wizards could trade Corey Kispert

The Wizards drafted Corey Kispert with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft hoping the sharpshooter could develop into a key player for them. However, the Gonzaga product has shown more of an ability to be a reliable role player or sixth man, than he has to be a key piece to the Wizards long-term, especially in the position they're in.

Kispert was signed to a four-year, $54 million extension in the offseason. A team-friendly deal that allows the Wizards to keep the forward on the books for the long haul, or find a deal to move him in the offseason, just like they did former Wizard Deni Avdija on draft night last offseason.

The playmaker is averaging 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists on the season, while shooting 45.6% from field goal range and 37.4% from beyond the arc. Although his stats don't stand out on a team like the Wizards, he has the tools and size to be a key contributor for a playoff ready team or a contender.

As Washington continues to prioritize the long-term future, expect all options to be on the table in the offseason, and that could even mean names such as Jordan Poole being made available for trade.

Kispert would likely be moved for a deal oriented around draft compensation which could help the Wizards stack talent in the draft, or even stack future assets to make a deal on draft night or in the future when and if a star request a trade.

Only time will tell, but for now it seems safe to consider that Kispert could be added to the list of Wizards on the move as the offseason looms.
