Washington Wizards forward Kelly Oubre Jr. continues to make news off the court. After offseason knee surgery earlier in the summer, we now have news that Oubre will be participating in one of the largest events in another of his passions, New York Fashion Week.

The last we heard from Kelly Oubre, he was rehabbing from minimal offseason knee surgery. Now, we know he’ll be active in his pursuit to enter the fashion world. According to WWD, Oubre will serve as an ambassador for New York Fashion Week (Men’s) during the week of July 10th.

His role will mostly entail sitting in the front row for the runway portion, but I’m sure he’ll also give some great interviews along the way. The other ambassadors include “Jon Batiste, a musician and the band leader from “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”; model Sean O’Pry; interior designer Nate Berkus and his husband Jeremiah Brent; Venezuelan singer Chyno Miranda, and the rapper Young Paris.”

Now fans of the team will certainly remember his draft day outfit, and his overwhelming need to always maintain his appearance. Now they must ask themselves ‘Will Oubre become the first full-time NBA player and model?’

Still not convinced of Oubre’s dedication to the industry? Earlier in June, he spent time interning for Esquire in the fashion department. He’s already mentioned this as his crossover opportunity.

On the court Oubre will be looking to improve his all-around game to allow him to gain more playing time in his third season in the NBA, and advance the #Shhh movement.

He’s still a young man, only 21, but surely has his sights on making People’s “Sexiest Man of the Year” cover in the future.

In the meantime, fans will have to just wait until he participates in ESPN’s The Body Issue.
