2 Studs standout in Wizards loss to Bulls in Tuesday's NBA Cup battle
By John Canady
The Washington Wizards entered their matchup against the Chicago Bulls like they have the last dozen games; looking to snap their losing streak.
However, in yet another lackluster performance, the Wizards losing streak stays alive as their season continues to derail from the tracks. And while losing may be better for the longterm goals of Washington's rebuild, this season has been hard to watch for not only fans of the Wizards, but fans of NBA basketball itself.
In their loss, Washington has yet to get a game where more than two Wizards players show up to give them a chance to win. That said, here's a look at the two players who did what they could to give Brian Keefe's squad an opportunity to protect home court on Tuesday night.
Alex Sarr stacks solid performances
Alex Sarr entered this game looking to add onto the growing confidence he's found over the last week as he settles into things with his new team. Fortunately for the rookie and the Wizards, he did just that. The 7-footer put together another solid performance on Tuesday's he continues to showcase the reason Sarr and company were so confident selecting him with the No. 2 overall pick.
Sarr ended the night with 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while shooting 63.6% from field goal range (7/11 FG) and 80% from beyond the arc (4/5 3PT range). In addition to his impressive offensive outing, the young Wizard continued to show his versatility on defense with a steal and a block.
Not to mention the fact that the 19-year-old ended the game with zero turnovers proving his ability to take care of the basketball. An impressive outing to say the least.
Kuzma finally shows up
Throughout the start of the season, one player that the Wizards desperately hoped to rely on has been veteran Kyle Kuzma. And up to this point, it's been hard for Washington to do that considering his struggles to start the season. However, against the Bulls, a glance at Kuzma's former self seem to emerge.
Kuzma finished the night with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while shooting an abysmal 38.9% (7/18 FG) from field goal range and 16.7% (1/6 3PT) from three point range. Despite his poor shooting night, the Utah product's aggression put him at the free throw line on multiple occassions where he shot 8/11 from the line.
Nonetheless, with the Wizards lack of performance from their supporting cast, the losing streak continues on.
