James Harden, Houston Rockets

James Harden is the single greatest offensive force in today’s NBA. His transition from shooting guard has unleashed a new version of the Beard.

He is now playing with complete freedom and complete responsibility at the same time in Mike D’Antoni’s analytically perfect offense. The Rockets shoot threes at a historic rate.

Harden ranks first in the NBA in assists per game and second in points. He has almost routinely collected 40-point triple doubles. His statistical excellence has only been overtaken by Westbrook’s equally mind-blowing numbers.

Harden is also surrounded by mostly average talent. But, unlike Westbrook in Oklahoma City, the team is perfectly tailored to fit what Harden wants to do within the offense. They are currently the surprising third seed in the Western Conference.

Verdict: Harden’s complete mastery on the offensive side of the ball are more than enough to push him over the top against Wall, the superior defensive player. Harden is likely the premier point guard in the NBA today.

Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets

Kemba Walker is experiencing a career year. He is putting up almost 23 points and 5.5 assists per game. He creates space very well and has one of the top crossovers in today’s NBA.

This season has seen him vastly improve as a 3-point shooter. However, his Charlotte Hornets have found it difficult to find wins after a solid start to the season.

It seems unlikely that Charlotte returns to the postseason. Walker carries an enormously large portion of the load on offense, but he has seen a recent decrease in his offensive efficiency.

Verdict: Walker has definitely found success in the NBA, but he is nowhere near Wall’s level right now.
