To Start or not to start that was the question

After their Game 2 loss, coach Scott Brooks hinted that he may start Mike Scott over Marcin Gortat.

However, before the game, Brooks said right away before even a question was asked, that he’s sticking with the starting lineup.

"“You want to know why? I’m confident in the group. We had a lot of good moments together. I’m not saying that if we don’t have a quick start, I might make a quicker substitution. Going into the series, you gotta give Toronto credit they took care of the first home games on their court. We gotta give our group a chance to do the same. We have a history that we have done it, and hopefully we can repeat it tonight”."

He was asked, why he threw Scott’s name out there?

"“When you don’t have good starts and you’re in front of microphone within five minutes after a game anything is possible with your thought process. We thought about it and it wasn’t just with Mike. We have other guys. It could’ve happened with other options—small, big. It wasn’t just Mike, he has played well. Mike has done a good job coming off the bench. That was the other factor we needed to counter their bench, and Mike has been a big part of that. I think he’s our second-leading scorer this season”."

Those are Brooks words. No need to interpret. It shows that when the Wizards lost, they lost as a team. Thus, the changes weren’t from an individual aspect, but looking at the team as a whole.
