Sixth Man of the Year: Jeff Green

Personally, my number one pick for Sixth Man of the Year is Austin Rivers. Entering his seventh season in the league, Rivers is coming off a career year and will play an enormous part in the Wizards’ success this season.

However, I already covered the reasons to why Rivers will be a strong candidate for Sixth Man of the Year, so my next choice is Jeff Green.

Following the signing of Dwight Howard, Green may be the second most important piece added to the Wizards’ roster this summer. Entering his 11th season, Green has had a solid NBA career while becoming one of the most underrated players in the league.

Despite not having the eye-popping numbers to 2018 winner, Lou Williams, Green became a strong candidate for Sixth Man of the Year as a reliable role player off the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 6’9 forward from Georgetown University averaged 10.8 points on 47.7 percent shooting from the field across 78 games. In a crucial Game 7 against the Boston Celtics, Green helped the Cavs reached the NBA Finals with a sensational 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field.

Due to the lack of depth they experienced last season, the Wizards now have a dependable bench player who can execute on both sides of the ball. If he can finally improve his three-point shot to become a spot-up shooter for the Wizards, Green would have a great chance at capturing the 2019 Sixth Man of the Year award.
