Throughout their 58-year history, the Baltimore/Washington Bullets/Wizards have had many prolific scorers play for them. These players were among the best.
Let’s face it, since winning the NBA championship in 1978, the Washington Wizards franchise hasn’t given their fan base a lot to cheer for.
Since the likes of Wes Unseld, Bob Dandridge and Elvin Hayes led the team to their only title, the team has failed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. It’s been even longer since they’ve recorded more than 50 wins in a season. Suffice to say, there have been more downs than ups.
The recent history of the Wizards particularly highlights this. When you bring up the Washington franchise to most fans, lowlights like the Gilbert Arenas/Javaris Crittenton gun situation, wasting lottery picks on Jan Vesely and Kwame Brown, DeShawn Stevenson’s one-sided beef with LeBron James and JaVale McGee’s weekly appearances on “Shaqtin’ a Fool” often overshadow whatever good the team does on the floor.
Even this most recent run of team success has spawned its fair share of dysfunction and disorder, and it has manifested into a slow start that doesn’t seem to be fluky.
Despite the many, many missteps the Wizards have taken, they have been home to some of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. Yes, they have employed plenty of oddball players over the years, but within that malaise of wackiness, there have been some truly electrifying players that made the nation’s capital their home for at least some part of their career.
But who are the best scorers to ever don a Bullets or Wizards jersey? Well, hopefully, this list answers that question for you.
