Grab your controller. Agent Zero is back as NBA 2K20 announces that the 2006-07 Washington Wizards will be added to the game as a classic team.

Aside from Bradley Beal, who even got a less than desirable player rating, it might not be too fun to play with the Washington Wizards current roster in NBA 2K20. Don’t anticipate a stellar rating for the squad. But for the gamers out there that want to rep the district, don’t worry. There will be a Wizards squad that’s more video-game friendly, and has some built-in nostalgia.

Today, NBA 2K announced on Twitter that there will be six new classic teams in the upcoming installment of the popular NBA video game franchise. In addition to the 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers, the 2013-14 San Antonio Spurs, the 2013-14 Los Angeles Clippers, the 2009-10 Portland Trail Blazers, and the 2002-03 Phoenix Suns, 2K is also gracing us with one truly classic team.

The 2006-07 Washington Wizards

For those that don’t remember the squad from over a decade ago, the 41-41 record doesn’t do this team justice. They were one of the NBA’s most explosive teams, ranking fourth in offensive rating, fourth in points per game, and fifth in pace.

Gilbert Arenas set the NBA on fire as he averaged 28.4 points per game and led the NBA in total three-pointers made (205). Only Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant scored more points per game that Arenas did that season. He was aptly rewarded by being named an All-Star game starter as well as being selected as a member of the All-NBA second team.

Arenas also set the franchise record for single-game points with a 60-point, 8-rebound, 8-assist performance in an overtime win vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.

But while it was the Agent Zero show, to a degree, he wasn’t alone out there. Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison were great running mates, rounding out a mini big three before that term had taken over team-building philosophies.

However, injuries to Arenas and Butler late in the season derailed everything, and the Wizards were eventually swept by the Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.

The 2006-07 season wasn’t a championship one for the Wizards. They didn’t even win their division that season. They didn’t even have a winning record! But it was a fun season, there’s no denying that. Maybe we can all have some better luck in 2K than that team had down the stretch. Suggestion: Turn injuries off.
