Starting Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal (2012-present) 20.3 ppg, 37.8 3PT%, 3.9 asts, 1.1 stls, 4 rpg

Another no-brainer, Bradley Beal is the defining shooting guard of the 2010’s for the Washington Wizards. If John Wall is Batman, there’s no question that Beal is Robin, combining with his backcourt running mate to create the House of Guards.

Beal’s true value comes from his ability to nail the long ball, sitting comfortably in 1st place among all-time 3 points made for the Washington Wizards franchise by almost 300 shots. The former Florida Gator is a two-time NBA All-Star (2018, 2019), NBA All-Rookie First Team Recipient (2013) and runner-up in the 2014 NBA Three-Point Contest.

Aside from his comfortable lead on all-time threes made, he also sits at 8th in minutes played, tied for 6th in assists, 7th in steals, and 4th in points. He’s still only 26-years-old, which is hard to conceptualize but easy to understand as he was just 19 when he came into the league.

Though Beal’s play and recent comments have come under scrutiny in the past few weeks, he’s just as important to this franchise as ever and shows no signs of slowing down his offensive onslaught.

Seeing that the preferred starting backcourt of the entire past 10 years is our current backcourt, it’s no wonder that Tommy Sheppard and the Wizards organization have some optimism about the near future. Wizards fans should continue to be excited.
