When the Washington Wizards go up against the Brooklyn Nets Thursday night, it will be a matchup of teams coming off very different performances. While both will be on night two of a back to back, the Nets are coming off a huge comeback victory while the Wizards are coming off a comeback attempt that fell short.

The Nets are six games ahead of the Wizards in the Eastern Conference but those numbers don’t tell the whole story. The Nets have been playing without key contributors essentially all season, with Kevin Durant missing time, Kyrie Irving only playing in home games (and only doing that after missing all games early on) and Ben Simmons not making his debut with the team yet.

The Wizards have been without Bradley Beal and other contributors for a fair amount of games, to be fair, though those guys aren’t at the level of the top nets players. The Nets played key guys big minutes last night with Kyle Kuzma getting 38 minutes and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope getting 34.

Washington Wizards vs Brooklyn Nets: Odds

According to WynnBet, the nets are currently 4.5 point favorites with the total coming in at 215.5. With time to change over the course of the day, getting the line at the right number could be the difference between a win and a loss.

At +4.5, the Wizards are tempting. Much more tempting than the Nets minus the points. While the Nets are coming off a win opposed to the Wizards loss, the type of win they had could be draining on the second night of a back to back.

The Wizards, meanwhile, will be hungry to end the first half of the season on a positive. The total feels a bit low for some of the offensive firepower on these teams combined with questions throughout each teams lineup in terms of defensive presence.

Washington Wizards vs Brooklyn Nets: Prediction

Can’t pass up on the Wizards +4.5, although there’s always the chance  this team doesn’t show up. The same can be said for the Nets with their current healthy group.

I also expect the over to come in with ease. That bet is the easier of the two as these teams both have players bound to get there offense in. While both are vulnerable to the occasional dud performance, if either team does that the other has the players to carry the load to get to the total.

The Nets are the play unless they get any lower than +3. The over is the play unless it gets up into the 220 range, which seems unlikely as of this morning.
