Former NBA player, JJ Redick, has one of the most popular basketball podcasts today, which is titled “The Old Man and the Three.” His latest guest was Wizards’ star, Bradley Beal. Beal was there to touch on a plethora of topics.

Beal opens up about his new contract extension and his belief in the Wizards organization for the foreseeable future. He talks about how he did have thoughts about leaving and it is practically human nature to ponder about your future somewhere else.

Throughout the interview, Beal is not afraid to be candid with how he feels about social media and their takes on his career. You can see how much he does care about the Wizards franchise. Obviously, $250 million helps, but the relationship he has with D.C. means something to him.

He mentioned the Bucks, Suns, and Celtics as teams that took the slow path of building a team that eventually contends. The belief in his eyes is that the Wizards can be that next team.

Beal reiterates how badly he wants to win and even says the Boston Celtics game 7 loss in 2017 still haunts him.

There are is also a discussion of him working on his three point shooting to match Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry, and their ability to hit ridiculous threes.

Furthemore, Redick asks Beal how he would “envision” the tandem of himself and Kristaps Porzingis for the upcoming season. He talks about Porzingis being so unique with his height and skillset, while showing excitement for he can bring to the table alongside Porzingis.

Beal is also reflective on him entering his 11th season in the NBA, and how he needs to be a great leader to the younger guys. He has checked all the boxes, except for winning at a high level. There is a drive to be great for Beal. The challenge is to grasp onto those goals and aspirations.

I would highly recommend to give this interview a listen.
