The time is now for the Washington Wizards to begin acquiring quality young talent. The best available target may be entering the market soon and could be a buy low option for Will Dawkins and co.

In recent reports, it has been revealed that Jonathan Kuminga does not have a relationship with future hall of famer Draymond Green. This comes immediately after the Golden State Warriors traded another young star due to the rocky relationship with him and Green.

This is only further proof of a potential divide of the Warriors’ locker room, something that can only be fixed by removing one side or the other. With Green’s shiny new contract and Jordan Poole already in DC, the choice has been made pretty clear.

Combine this possible divide with the fact thatKuminga threatened to demand a trade earlier in the offseason and it’s very possible that the Warriors end up shopping him around by the end of August.

The Washington Wizards should look to pull off another heist by trading with the Warriors.

Why should the Washington Wizards trade for Jonathan Kuminga?

Where to start? Kuminga is an incredibly talented forward that has been described as a 2K My Player in the way that he can become whatever his team wants him to become. He can be molded into whatever player his training staff wants.

He has already shown flashes of what Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, and Draymond Green do on a regular basis, it seems more than possible that he can grow into any one of them, or possibly into a combination of the three.

Already one of the best off-ball movement players in the league with timely cuts and relocation techniques we rarely see from players his age, Kuminga has the ability to play off of the current roster to perfection.

The athleticism he boasts allows him to not only blow by the initial point of attack for the defense, but also rise above the rotating big man near the paint. If this doesn’t work for him, he has shown the ability to make the right play and find shooters or cutters while in mid-air.

Kuminga’s potential is through the roof and the Wizards should be willing to trade plenty of assets for the young NBA Champion.

To sweeten the pot, he has playing experience with three players already on the roster, extensive experience with Jordan Poole in particular.

He would start for the Washington Wizards on day one as he is a better, more athletic version of Deni Avdija with much more potential. Kuminga would also fit better with Tyus Jones and Jordan Poole as he is a more dangerous lob target and slightly better floor spacer.

The only thing stopping the Wiz from making a move for him is the fact that his contract does not match his ability or his potential. Finding a way to trade for the 20-year-old will be incredibly difficult with or without other teams joining the trade.

If the Washington Wizards find a way to trade for Jonathan Kuminga, they could have the most impressive young core of two-way players in the league. The Golden State Warriors’ forward is the perfect trade target for the Wizards.
