The Washington Wizards have had plenty of eyes on them this season, and in large part due to the leap that several of the team's young players have taken up to this point in the regular season.

Kyshawn George has been among the most impressive players for Washington's young core this season, proving that not only was a he a steal in the 2024 NBA Draft, but he is a long-term building block for the Wizards moving forward.

Alongside George, arguably the biggest standout from Washington's trying season has been the sophomore leap from former No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr.

After an inconsistent rookie campaign, the 7-footer made it a point to silence the noise of his doubters this season and he's done exactly that and more.

Averaging 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 blocks, while averaging 49.6% from field goal range and 33.6% from beyond the arc, Sarr was set to be one of the premiere names in the NBA Rising Stars game at All-Star Weekend alongside George and rookie standout Tre Johnson.

Instead, the big man's All-Star experience has already come to an end after suffering an injury that will sideline hiim for the next couple of weeks.

Alex Sarr to miss All-Star weekend with hamstring injury

On Thursday morning, NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that Sarr was set to be out of action for the next two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.

"Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr has sustained a right hamstring strain and will miss approximately two weeks, sources tell ESPN," Charania said in his latest update. "Sarr, one of three players averaging at least 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game this season, is now out for Friday's Rising Stars game."

Obviously, Sarr missing the Rising Stars game is not the news fans wanted to hear, especially with the chance to put on full display exactly what's being built in the DMV alongside the likes of George and Johnson, but there is some good to come from this situation.

As many know, hamstring issues are very sensitive when rehabbing as soft tissue injuries can often linger and cause more issues down the road.

The update suggesting that Sarr is only set to miss two weeks is good news considering similar injuries have sidelined players for months.

With the All-Star break being one of those two weeks of missed action, the French product isn't expected to miss too much time.
