The Washington Wizards young roster and the blockbuster trades for Trae Young and Anthony Davis ahead of the NBA trade deadline have plenty of eyes on what's being built in the DMV.
With plenty of attention on the Wizards, it's been quite awhile since the overwhelming outlook of a roster in D.C. is positive instead of negative.
For WNBA star Angel Reese, her hometown roots still have her keeping an eye on Washington basketball, even with her ties to the Chicago Sky.
Following the team's signing of her younger brother Julian Reese, the newest Wizards' oldest sister found herself attending a game and wasting no time to add fuel to the hype train in D.C.
In fact, three simple words from Reese proves that momentum in the DMV is building.
Those words? "D.C. is back!"
Angel Reese sends Wizards stamp of approval
During the Wizards matchup against the Orlando Magic, Monumental Sports Network's Meghan Peak got the chance to catch up with Reese about the current state of Wizards basketball and her thoughts on her brother joining their hometown team.
“I’m really excited for DMV hoops… D.C. is back!” 🔥@meghanmcpeak links up with @Reese10Angel to break down little brother @Reese10Julian’s game and what’s next for the @WashWizards — from their young core to the latest additions!#ForTheDistrict pic.twitter.com/RbzfLIm3TM

Reese shared plenty of thought, but there's one key part of the interview that stood out:
“I’m really excited for DMV hoops..D.C. is back," Reese said. "We got some great picks, Trae Young coming in, AD, so I'm really happy for D.C."
The Maryland native is clearly ecstatic for not only the chance to watch her younger brother suit up for their local NBA team, but also the progress of the team.
Adding Reese to the list of people high on the Wizards proves that there's plenty of support for what general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger are building.
And when you look at the points Reese made, it's easy to understand the excitement.
Wizards truly are in a good place
Washington enters the offseason with the opportunity to land a premiere talent in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Adding a top prospect to the likes of a young core that already consist of players such as Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Will Riley, Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly and even Cam Whitmore, there's an abundance of optimism about where the team is headed.
Then, factoring in the impact a superstar duo like Trae Young and Anthony Davis will have, there's a real chance that Washington is back in the playoff picture of the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later.
