The Washington Wizards made headlines ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February acquiring not one, but two former All-Stars.
Forming a new superstar duo of Trae Young, who’s just entering his prime at 27 years old, and Anthony Davis, who—when healthy—is a top big man in the league, there’s no doubt the Wizards have grabbed the attention of nearly every basketball mind around.
Not only does the team have a new-look duo that teams across the league could only dream of having (shoutout to the Los Angeles Lakers), but they also have one of the most intriguing young cores in the league with the likes of Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George and Tre Johnson coming to mind.
In fact, the frontcourt pairing of Sarr and Davis is one duo on the Wizards that could make Washington an absolute nightmare to play against next season considering the two-way potential that both big men have.
However, in Davis' recent interview about his fit in Washington, the future Hall of Famer seemed to not just be excited about the opportunity to play alongside Sarr, but also about the potential the duo of him and Trae Young have.
Anthony Davis sets bar high for duo with Trae Young
The Wizards' new frontcourt star made it clear why he believes that his fit alongside Young could bring out the best in him while in Washington:
"I think me and Trae can definitely be a dynamic duo," Davis said. "His passing ability, his ability to shoot the basketball, ability to get in the paint. I feel like any time I've had a point guard that can throw lobs, who can make the right reads and read the game like Trae, I've been great. Everything he brings to the game is unreal."
Considering how pumped Davis seems to be about the potential of playing alonsgide a gifted passer like Young makes it easy to understand why Washington felt that when the opportunity presented itself to land both talents, it was too good to pass up.
Young was a prime target for the Lakers to play alongside AD and LeBron James in Los Angeles, and although they never landed him, it's clear that Davis was pushing for the chance to play alongside him behind the scenes.
Now, Davis will get the chance to prove just how dangerous the duo of him and Young will be in the DMV moving forward.
