Anthony Davis didn't ask for a trade to the Washington Wizards, but he also hasn't hinted at his desire to suit up elsewhere since joining.

Despite that, the future Hall of Famer made his commitment to Washington crystal clear in the team's exit meetings, and he also made it obvious that his first order of action will be to get answers about the team's direction this offseason.

The big man is on the back half of his career, and it doesn't come as a total surprise to learn that he wants to determine if his future goals closely align with those of the team.

At the same time, the Wizards front office needs to understand that while he may not be directly stating his desire to contend now, his public comments make it clear he's pushing for the team to compete sooner rather than later.

Anthony Davis plans to speak with Wizards front office about direction

According to Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Davis has plans to speak to the team's front office this offseason with the hopes of finding out the team's timeline to compete.

“Davis reiterated Monday that he wants to have in-depth conversations with Monumental Basketball president Michael Winger and Wizards general manager Will Dawkins over the next few months to learn whether team officials have a concrete plan to compete for a championship either next season or during the 2027-28 season," Robins reported.

The former top pick has acknowledged the young talent on the roster, and he's stated on multiple occasions that the infrastructure of the organization has impressed him behind closed doors.

Still, without clear direction, it'll be difficult for the Kentucky product to openly commit.

AD has a timeline he wants the Wizards to agree to

On a recent episode of the Draymond Green Show, Davis briefly talked about his fit in Washington.

The newest Wizard made it clear that he understands the difficult to go from the bottom of the NBA standings to contend for a championship in the matter of one season, but he also stated that playoff hopes for next season shouldn't be understated.

Davis believed that a playoff push next season is a realistic goal, and if they can build momentum ahead of the 2027-28 season, it could be a timeline he could get behind.

However, if Washington doesn't share the same vision, it could create a disconnect with their star forward that could push him to force his way out of the DMV.
