The Washington Wizards' interest in Austin Reaves isn't anything new, and at this point, it's safe to say that almost every fan has dreamed about the idea of adding the playmaker.
Coming off his career-best season, averaging 23.3 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds, the former undrafted guard has emerged as one of the best young guards in the league.
Washington's desire to add Reaves has likely decreased some, given their acquisition of Trae Young and the abundance of young talent on the roster, with the likes of Tre Johnson coming to mind, but it's fair to say that if the opportunity presented itself tomorrow, Washington likely wouldn't think twice about pursuing the 27-year-old.
And based on the recent comments from Anthony Davis, the Wizards may have just received another reason to keep their hopes alive for a move to land Reaves.
Anthony Davis says Austin Reaves is the teammate he misses the most
Davis made headlines as part of a recent prank show called "Foul Play" when he played a key role in pranking his former teammate, Austin Reaves.
The prank itself was the best part of the show, but Davis' comments ahead of the prank were the most eye-opening thing of the entire clip.
Anthony Davis:

“Out of everybody on the team, I really miss Austin Reaves. That was my guy.”

The big man clearly has a strong relationship with Reaves, and based on their chemistry on the court, that shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody.
Obviously, the hope of AD luring a former teammate to the DMV has already been mentioned ahead of LeBron James pivotal offseason decision, but a bold move for Reaves feels more likely than the 41-year-old veteran using what could be his last season in the league to suit up in D.C.
Getting Reaves to Washington alone would be difficult, but arguably the biggest obstacle of any move for the Wizards would be convincing the Lakers to move on from the guard.
Lakers have no plans to let Austin Reaves leave
Reaves has become a major piece of the puzzle for the Lakers, and with the recent reports that Luke Doncic doesn't want the team to lose the Oklahoma product, it's hard to imagine any scenario in which the team lets Reaves out the door.
Washington could probably put together a package that entices Los Angeles if they really wanted to, but a bold move for the guard likely wouldn't be worth it for the Wizards to offload as much young talent as it would cost for a deal to come to fruition.
On top of that, it's safe to assume that Reaves would prefer to stay in LA, given that he chose to decline being drafted to sign with the Lakers as an undrafted free agent.
Not to mention, the Wizards seem to have their own concerns about the long-term fit of Davis in Washington, as contract talks have seemingly died down.
Regardless, if the Wizards' interest in Reaves remains and they were searching for another reason to pursue the playmaker, Davis just gave them exactly that.
